San Jacinto College – COVID-19 Safety Measures
As we all begin to feel the impact of the coronavirus (COVID-19), I want to share with you the steps San Jacinto College is taking to help protect the health and safety of our students, faculty, staff and the community we serve.
We have three objectives:
- To protect the health and well-being of our employees, students, suppliers, and community
- To continue the safe and effective delivery of instruction to our students
- To productively adapt to the changing circumstances with a focus on retarding the spread of the disease while conducting our lives and jobs
The College administration has been working to address the rapidly changing situation and is formulating plans to begin completing the full semester through online, hybrid, and alternate classwork. The College has clear procedures in place restricting access to campus for employees who return from a high-risk location, have contact with someone who is confirmed with the Coronavirus, or is presenting cold or flu-like symptoms. We are encouraging social distancing and the adaptation to more tele-conferencing in lieu of face-to-face meetings and advocating a work from home policy for many of our employees. We have increased the number of sanitation stations, reminding everyone of hand-washing protocols and disease prevention tips, and have increased the disinfection frequency of surfaces to improve sanitation performance.
We value the relationship we have with our suppliers and are requesting each of you take this emergency as seriously as we are. We are asking our suppliers to develop similar procedures for screening your employees to ensure the virus is not brought onto our campuses. This may include asking suppliers and contractors to confirm their protocols for protecting against the virus and promulgating best practices to keep everyone safe and well. It may also include the curtailment of non-essential services and the possible cancellation of others.
Thank you for your patience and for your focus during these novel and challenging times.
Sincerely,
Ann Kokx–Templet, CPPO, CPPB
